Intro
My name is Haley Bartsch (Kolach); born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I have been a teacher in rural Saskatchewan for 12 years, primarily as a Special Education Resource Teacher. I am the daughter of two wonderful parents (who were also teachers) and a sister to another Special Education Resource Teacher. I’m an Auntie to a beautiful niece and nephew, a dog mama to our pups, Jaxson and Pieces, and wife to an amazing husband and love of my life, Dustin.
I love teaching and being with kids. I have a passion for education and working with other educators. When I’m not at school I enjoy spending time with friends and family, camping, biking, boating, walking, golfing, cross-country skiing, going to the gym, travelling, and watching football.
Dustin and I have been married for 9 and a half years (it will be 10 on June 2nd!). We married when I was 28 and Dustin was 30. It was one of the most amazing days of my life. Six months after we married, we moved from Saskatoon to a large home on 10 acres, bought an SUV that was large enough for car seats and strollers, and planned to start our family! Definitely two kids; maybe three if everything was going well. What a dream that was… literally. That was 8 and a half years ago and here we are. Still a childless couple. But there has been a lot that has happened between December 2012 and August 2021.
It Might Be Something Better Than You Planned
At the beginning of September, Dustin had to take our dog, Pieces, to the vet. She has an underactive thyroid (just like me!) so, she is on daily medication. When her prescription runs out, she needs to have blood work done (also, like me!) to make sure there are no adjustments that need to be…
It’s Still a Miracle
I was chatting with a friend a few months ago about this blog and my Icing and Animal Crackers Instagram page. She asked if I was going to continue writing, even though we are no longer trying to have children. I started the blog in August 2021 after our second donor embryo transfer ended in…
Team 11
Last Friday, we celebrated our 11th anniversary! It’s hard to believe it’s been 11 years; as they say, time flies when you’re having fun! But if you have read my blog from the beginning, you know the last 10 years have not all been “fun”. You’ll also know that seeing a counsellor has been important…
